Founder Susan Seeks Community Support to Sustain Their Lifesaving Mission
St. Clair, MO, 04/01/2024. Susan, the founder of Hummingbird Hollow Outdoors Farm Sanctuary recently launched a campaign called "Support the Care of Farm Animals at Hummingbird Hollow" to gather backing for their ongoing mission of rescuing, rehabilitating and providing forever homes, for farm animals that have been neglected and abandoned.

Ever since it began in February 2020 Hummingbird Hollow Outdoors Farm Sanctuary has remained committed to offering a haven to farm animals that're, in desperate need. Starting with two horses the sanctuary has grown its family by rescuing numerous animals who have suffered from neglect, abuse and the threat of slaughter.

Susan tells the story of how they saved five donkeys who were facing a fate, in the fur trade, in Louisiana. She emphasizes the efforts that led to their rescue mentioning that they managed to raise $2,500 for their rescue and transportation home.

However, maintaining this cause has become increasingly challenging during the pandemic. Susan explains that fundraising for animal rescues and sanctuaries has become very difficult. To cope with the rising costs of care, transportation and daily expenses they have had to rely on loans and credit cards.

The Hummingbird Hollow Outdoors Farm Sanctuary is a beautiful place spanning 27 acres. It was built with the help of donations and a lot of work. At present the sanctuary is home, to a variety of animals including horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, geese, ducks, turkeys, chickens and potbellied pigs. Despite their dedication, to caring for these animals on a budget the sanctuary is facing difficulties and could really use some support.

Their GoFundMe campaign aims to raise $50,000 to:
1.Ensure the animals' well-being throughout winter, covering monthly expenses of $3,000 for feed, hay, and straw.
2.Expand shelters and enclosures, vital for accommodating the growing family of rescued animals.
3.Alleviate the financial burden of outstanding credit card debts and loans accrued for veterinary care, supplies, and increased operational costs due to the pandemic's impact.

"We believe in the power of positive energy and the generosity of our community," Susan affirms. "Your donation will directly contribute to keeping these animals warm, well-fed, and cherished in their forever home."

The sanctuary remains committed to sustainability initiatives, including camping and glamping sites, visitor donations, Patreon, and individual animal sponsorship. However, immediate support is crucial to ensuring the animals' continued care and safety.

Susan concludes with gratitude, urging those unable to donate to share their cause widely. "Thank you all so much for your kindness and support," she expresses, emphasizing the collective effort required to maintain their vital mission.
