Life waits for no one. Life is always in a state of flux. If you know how to flex, you will never get bent out of shape! These are cliché statements that describe life on planet earth as we know it. The same is true of the English vocabulary (Learn English Online).

It is a vibrant language with new words flowing into it and many words coming into disuse or different use. To be able to effectively thrive in such a changing world it is imperative to have a large vocabulary mental arsenal. In addition, it is equally important to be able to adapt your English language skills to the different life scenarios that you will find yourself in.

For example, in the Bible in the old King James Version in 1 Corinthians 15:33 it states “evil communications corrupt good manners”. Now the word communication here has not much to do with communicating, it has a meaning that entails who you tend to associate with. It is the company you keep. In this case, the meaning and the usage changed.

There is a Christmas song that says “don we now our gay apparel”. In the era it was written it had a lot to do with happiness and frivolity. In our society, the use of the term “gay” when referring to a person’s sexual orientation is an accepted usage. Language changes and flexes, it is always in a state of flux.

The word “cosmetics” comes from the Greek word “cosmos” which meant an orderly arrangement. Cosmetics became in use as an orderly arrangement or the art of beautifying. Maybe some people missed that point, but that is how it came to be.

So learning how to spell with a strong phonics based foundation coupled with an increasing vocabulary is paramount in our society. When new words come into usage and old ones come into disuse or are modified to a different use, being able to properly communicate at any level will simply improve your quality of life.

The average vocabulary of an active adult is somewhere between 5000 to 6000 words by best research and estimate. What if a person had a command of at least 10,000-word vocabularies? What if being able to adjust with effective communication that positively influences those in one's sphere of influence?

With our current level of English proficiency in North America, our society will continue to suffer from vocabulary deficiency. Maybe that can even be called a syndrome. You have at your disposal a system that can change all of that.
