The website is the latest project from entrepreneur Zoltan Hunt. Hunt is known for his various start ups and web portals for business owners and individuals interested in career training. The website is broken down into categories and fully searchable by users. Future plans include expanding it to include a full business directory.

The name Maximum Venture is derived from two sources: a Canadian business TV show in the 1990’s called "Venture", a weekly spotlight on the worlds of business and enterprise, and the book, Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found, by Suketu Mehta. Like the book, the name Maximum Venture was chosen to emphasise the kinetic energy of the current Canadian business environment. The goal of the website is to present stories and news in a way that show how they affected regular Canadians. With this site, Hunt wants to focus on business in Canada that goes beyond Toronto. Time changes and so do businesses and cities. Montreal was once the centre of commerce in Canada up until the 1970s, and that has since shifted to Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Creating and delivering those stories about real businesses, real entrepreneurs, and real success helps to present Canada and Canadian businesses in a positive light.
