The Ministry of AYUSH was formed to ensure the perfect growth and expansion of AYUSH (Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) systems of health care.
 
AYUSH refers to Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. It relates to the department of AYUSH.

The Ministry of AYUSH was created on 9th November 2014 to assure the ideal growth and extension of AYUSH systems of health care. Earlier it absolutely was referred to as the department of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISM&H) that was formed in March 1995 and renamed as department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003, with centered attention for the progress of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.

Objectives Of The Scheme

The scheme is being executed with a district/block/Taluk as a unit for the turnout of only proven AYUSH implementations by the following ways:-

Assisting inventive proposals for both Government organizations as well as private organizations.
To boost AYUSH intervention for community health care.
To promote organizationally skilled AYUSH practitioners.
To promote application of AYUSH practitioners in various public health programs.

The benefits of Ayush system are as follows:-
• It fulfills gaps in health services.
• It offers low cost services in remote areas.
• AYUSH can deliver better care to senior citizens.
• Issue of tobacco and drug abuse can be handled by AYUSH specifically through Yoga.
• Helpful in lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension.
• Major part of the population favors AYUSH as it is sensed to have less side effects, costs and factors of it being more natural.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate/ association should have credible project conduct specialist and core staff.
If the candidate/ association is a non-profit/voluntary organizations, they must have previous experience of at least 5 years of working in the area of community health.
The organization must provide the required evidence for executing such programs in the past.
If the candidate/organization is a non-profit/voluntary organizations, they must have to make details available concerning any support taken from any State/Central agency in the last 5 years.
Any institution that has received funding from any other Central Government Ministry/ Department for the similar reason in the last 5 years should not be qualified for funding under this scheme.
The State Government should forward the proposal in the specified proforma within 60 days of submission of the proposal by the candidate/ association to the State.
Funding Pattern of Ayush system

Maximum Rs.150 lakhs are acknowledged for the duration of three years.
The funds are released in 3 installments of 40%, 40% and 20% of the entire quantity approved. The 2nd and 3rd installment are released after getting acceptable achievement-cum-performance report and on expense of at least 75% of discharged quantity and after approval of UC thereof.
Documents Required For Submission

Thorough proposal must be forwarded duly.
Copy of Registration (other than State Government) must be attested.
Copy of Bye-laws (other than State Government) must be attested .
Copies of Audited Statements of account for last five years (other than State Government) must be attested.
Bank account details containing bank statement of last 6 months (other than Government organization) must be submitted.
A note of previous activities and conquests of the organization should be submitted.
Certificate of abiding to the terms & conditions should be duly submitted.

Q-1. What is Ayush treatment?
Ans.:- Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) determines AYUSH treatment as medical treatments provided under Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy systems.

Q-2. Is Ayurvedic treatment covered under medical insurance?
Ans.:- Although the coverage has been extended, there are restrains on the amount and circumstances under which it can be claimed. Till awhile ago, health insurance policies used to cover only allopathy treatment, whereas ayurveda, homeopathy, naturopathy and unani treatments were omitted of the reach.

Q-3. What is Ayush in health insurance?
Ans.:- An AYUSH cover in the health insurance policy involves in-patient hospitalization charges. The medical charges sustained for hospitalized treatment taken under Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy will be included within the policy.

Ans.:- AYUSH is the abbreviation of the medical systems that are being practiced in India such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.
