When I mention Yankee Stadium, I'm often asked,"Have you been?" Of course, I have to make sure we are discussing precisely the same location as I have been to the first Yankee Stadium and also the"new" or even"newer" or"current" Yankee Stadium... or whatever people are calling it. (They don't have that difficulty in Boston.) Anyway, while I appreciate the historical significance of the first ballpark, and I have visited there a lot more times compared to the newer version, I'm very happy to mention that the newer Yankee Stadium is fine in my book. It is strong, it's beautiful, it's tidy, spacious and modern. It needed to be constructed - that the old place was struggling. But though the arrangement is magnificent, the experience of attending a game is much different than it had been at the old Yankee Stadium and a few facets make me long for the old times.

The I had my first encounter there in June of that same year when my wife, Evelyn, took me (and also to the rest of NYC) for a much numbered birthday (which shall remain a puzzle ) celebration. She set the entire thing up: tickets, parking passes, hotel, etc.. It was an amazing gesture on her part because she is not the greatest baseball fan (or lover of big cities) on the planet. As the day unfolded, I began to feel guilty and amazed when I heard what this Yankee Stadium experience cost Evelyn both in dollars and sanity.
Thursday afternoon game. Evelyn prepaid a week earlier for parking at a garage River Avenue. I could see Yankee Stadium! Great! We all had to do was move around the block to the other side and we would be set. Not too fast. When we tried to turn up the 1 block necessary to get into the parking garage, there were barricades blocking the road... and each other cross street in the Bronx, it seemed. A three minute drive turned into a 45 minute nightmare because we had to basically leave New York State to contact our parking place that was directly across the road from the scene!

I started to remember how parking at The old Yankee Stadium was 8 for quite a while and $10 not so long past and it had been $24 in the new place. I told my wife the way that tickets to get seats in the front rows of the upper deck between third base and first were not greater than $19. They were currently $40 at the newer Yankee Stadium.

So we finally parked and walked to the"New" Yankee Stadium. The Great Hall was impressive; a whole lot of space and very high ceiling made me feel tiny. Our seats were in the upper deck behind the visitor dugout and the view was magnificent. The weather was bright and hot (but not hot) and everything was perfect. Then Evelyn got thirsty. Being a gentlemen, I made my way down the 999 steps and the hallway to the concession stand. I will not carp about the purchase price of a large drink and a bucket of popcorn even if it cost more than a decent steak dinner back home. Why? Because the drink came from a plastic Yankee tumbler along with the popcorn came at a souvenir ice bucket with the Yankee logo on it. I must bring home a tiny portion of the new Yankee Stadium daily. I still have both mementos in my kitchen. It does not take much to make me happy.

Yes, even leaving the stadium was Hard: foot and automobile traffic gave Evelyn excellent pressure and her Sense of leadership is bad. However, all in all, our visit had lots of more positives than negatives. If you plan to visit Yankee Stadium,

Do not drive if at all possible. The traffic jams and parking fee will annoy you. Take a subway if you live where one is accessible. If You are coming from out of town, reach the ballpark at least 5 hours Ahead of game time... possibly 7. Or camp out in the parking lot. (Do they allow that?) Hey, at least you'll see the gamers arriving. (I have done that - not the camping area - the get-there-early part.)
Find your tickets onto a trusted internet website or get them from a friend. The retail costs are one reason why attendance is down. I Think $19 to get an upper deck seat is a good price, don't you?
Eat and drink until you go... unless, obviously, you would like a Yankee Stadium boutique ice bucket filled with popcorn.
If you go on a warm, sunny afternoon, use sunscreen. Evelyn is of Irish descent and would have burnt to a crisp with no. For more information visit https://safetoto.org/
