Best of the Bus Winner Hop Yard 62 To Celebrate 1-Year Anniversary

Grove City, OH -- It’s been nearly a year since Hop Yard 62 opened its doors, and the company looks forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with its customers on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m.

Located in the Historic Town Center of Grove City and on the corner of Grove City Road and Broadway, Hop Yard 62 has seen its fair share of good times. In June it won CityScene Magazine’s “Best of the Bus” award for Best Beer Selection in Columbus.

What makes locally owned Hop Yard 62 stand out from its competitors?

Owners Greg and Tammy Solt are veterans of the U.S. military. Greg is a four-year veteran with the U.S. Army and Tammy is a seven-year veteran with the U.S. Marines.

When the pair initially opened the bar, they offered 17 taps. Today, the bar offers 21 taps, which is a representation of the 21-tap salute to all veterans and active duty service men and women. In honor of these men and women, they have hung a “Salute to Service” board that includes the pictures of veterans or active duty service members.

Both Greg and Tammy live in the community, and have worked hard to set the bar high – hiring people who know about the beer craft. Unsure of what you want? It’s not issue. Just let the bartenders know what flavors you’d like and they’ll steer you in the right direction. You’ll never be disappointed.

Hop Yard sources all its snack offerings from local companies such as Nay’s Gourmet Pretzels, OH Chips and Tasha’s Carmel Corn with her delicious flavored popcorn.

Hop Yard also serves their flights in vintage cheese boxes. Pick any four of the 21 taps and have them served up in authentic vintage wooden cheese boxes. They will even number them with chalk so you remember which beers you selected. No more forgetting which beer you ordered!

Hop Yard 62 hosted two extremely popular brewing contests. The first “Hop Off” home brewers contest was for an IPA. The second contest, which was BJCP Certified, had brewers brewing their best Stout. Additional contests will also be BJCP Certified.

During September, the bar served its one-of-a-kind “Beer Celebration Cake” for anybody who requested it for their Private Party. This beer cake allows you to try all 21 taps, which is served in a round wooden beer celebration cake. There’s nothing else like it in the world.

Hop Yard began doing 10 for 10 wine tastings with a different theme each month. Tammy said, “All three tasting events sold out within a few days”. The owners have plans to continue these.

Hop Yard 62 will continue to bring the finest, most unique craft beers to Grove City. They even have their own exclusive beer called Dutch Pike Pale Ale. Dutch Pike is a very old name for Grove City Road, which the bar borders on. It’s also the closest growler fill station to downtown Columbus, offering both 32 oz. and 64 oz. options. They also have an amazing line of t-shirt apparel with more than six different designs.

What Will Hop Yard 62 Offer In The Coming Year?

What does Hop Yard 62 have on top for its second year in business? According to Greg, they plan on offering more beer education classes, at least two additional Certified Home Brewers Contests, wine tastings, live music, summer beer festival, tap take overs, Oktoberfest and the yearly “Dysfunctional Family Avoidance Day, which occurs the day before Thanksgiving.

Hop Yard 62 is located at 4057 Broadway, Grove City.
