The real Dan Marlowe was Jed Power's father's best friend. Mr. Marlowe wrote his crime masterpiece, "The Name of the Game is Death" while living with the Power family. He named a character in the novel after Jed. Jed has returned the honor by naming his bartender protagonist Dan Marlowe.

Jed also has the first novel in a new series coming out in paper and ebook June 1, 2015. "The Combat Zone" is about a PI who hangs his hat in 1972 Harvard Square and spends lot of time in the Combat Zone, Boston's red-light district.

Jed is also a collector of vintage Noir/Hardboild paperbacks. The collection includes, among many other items, the largest gathereing of Dan Marlowe published work and memorabilia.
