The Importance of Conservatory Roofs to your Home

Conservatory roofing is very critical to a conservatory’s look and efficiency. The architectural style is defined in a lot of cases by the conservatory roof. As a result, roofing is a major part of design identification. Apart from the aesthetics, however, conservatory roofs also contribute to the conservatory’s energy efficiency.

As professional fitters of bespoke conservatory roofs in Whitley Bay, Tyneside and North East, we are here with some important benefits the conservatory roofs on your property.

Light control

The type of roof you want will influence how much light you get in your conservatory. A glass roof makes for unlimited sunshine unless you choose tinted windows. A polycarbonate roof absorbs a certain amount of light, so the conservatory would not be as vivid. A solid roof would thus obstruct all-natural illumination!

Privacy

The glass roof of the conservatory will be completely transparent. As a result, if you have neighbours at a higher level, you may not have a lot of privacy. Polycarbonate conservatory roofs will be slightly obscured, while tiled roofs will give you complete privacy. But that’s offset by the fact that you can’t see it either. The Tiled Conservatory roof gives you more space and privacy in this regard.

Protection and durability

A sturdy conservatory roof is far more durable than the other two choices. Being strong, it also gives greater protection. However, well-installed double glazed and polycarbonate roofs can also be very stable. They’re not as robust, though. Also, polycarbonate roofs can need to be replaced every 10 years.

Retention of heat

To be power-efficient your conservatory requires a roof that will help maintain the power inside. Double glazed glass roofs can be very effective at heat retention. For some cases, however, polycarbonate roofs are much better off. Strong roofs, of course, provide outstanding insulation. Nonetheless, you need to align that with your needs.

Is your conservatory in the full sun? You do not want it to get too warm in that situation. On the other hand, if it’s in a side that gets less light, you’d like it to receive as much infrared as it can.

Weather and noise proof

While you’re sitting in your conservatory, you will be able to appreciate it in whatever environment. This can be challenging for polycarbonate roofs since it absorbs sound very well. As a consequence, as it happens, it will get very loud. Double glazing will muffle the sound a little, but the concrete roof of the conservatory is the quietest. Similarly, if the day is warm and dry, the clear roofs will allow too much light.
