Pathway to Permanent Residency for Essential Workers

The government of Canada has announced a pathway to Canada PR visa for foreign workers who are employed in the essential services occupations in Canada such as hospitals, nursing homes and others
 
The Canadian government has announced a Permanent Residency Pathway for all temporary foreign workers who are employed in essential occupations. If you are working as a temporary worker who is employed in a hospital, or long-term care home for aged persons, or any other essential sector, then you are eligible to become one among the 20,000 health care or 30,000 essential workers, who can apply for Canada PR visa.
Canada PR Pathway for Essential Workers
This scheme is a limited-time pathway for obtaining a Canada PR visa and is open to essential workers of any level of skill. All temporary residents who have been working in Canada, on any of the occupations that are listed as essential. The workers who are applying from within Canada can get an opportunity to be one among the 20,000 healthcare workers, and 30,000 essential workers, who will be eligible to obtain Canada PR visa, through the newly announced policy program. This pathway will be open between 6th May and 5th Nov 2021, or until the caps for intake are reached.

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants

Primary applicants for the program, will need to fulfill the following criteria

1. They will need to have at least one year of work experience, either full time or part time in an eligible occupation, within the three years that immediately precedes the date of application. There are two streams which are applicable
a. Stream A: This stream is applicable for temporary workers who have work experience in at least one of the health-care occupations which are listed in Annex A of the government list
b. Stream B: This stream is applicable for temporary who have work experience of at least one year in the immediately preceding three years in the occupations listed under Annexure B
2. They will need to be currently working in Canada in any of the relevant listed occupations at the time of submitting the application;
3. The applicant should not be self-employed unless he is working as a medical doctor with a health authority
4. The applicant should have a CLB score of at least 4 in English and/or French in all parameters
5. The applicant status in Canada should be valid or should be eligible for extension
6. The applicant should be willing to reside in any province of Canada except Quebec.
7. THe applicant should meet any other admission criteria and submit an application through the IRCC

Eligibility Requirements for Dependent Family Members

1. The dependent family member should be either a spouse, common law partner, or dependent child of the principal applicant
2. The dependent family member should meet all eligibility requirements
3. The dependent family member must be approved by an IRCC officer who has been delegated for the purpose.

Once all the criteria are met by the principal applicant and the dependent family members, then an application should be submitted to the IRCC using the appropriate forms available on the website. Once the application is successfully submitted, the immigration authority will consider the merits of the application and provide the Canada PR status.
