Der Grund für die Implementierung eines NFC-Chips beim iPad Pro liegt auf der Hand: Apple Pay. Allerdings ist es laut der Quelle unwahrscheinlich, dass das riesige Tablet selbst zum kontaktlosen Bezahlen verwendet werden kann. Vielmehr soll das Gerät den Bezahldienst nur unterstützen, um beispielsweise als Kassenterminal für Apple Pay Verwendung zu finden. Derzeit wird Apple Pay noch immer nur in den USA im Zusammenspiel mit dem iPhone 6 und iPhone 6 Plus unterstützt. Wer dort bereits zum erlauchten Kreis der Apple-Watch-Besitzer zählt, kann den Service außerdem zusammen mit einem iPhone 5, 5c und 5s nutzen, das mit dem Wearable-Gerät gekoppelt wurde.

Die Angaben von Apple Insider decken sich in vielerlei Hinsicht mit bereits in der Vergangenheit durchgesickerten Details zu Apples neuem Tablet-Modell. Auch die Information, das iPad Pro werde - genau wie Microsofts Surface-Pro-Reihe - Eingaben via Digitalisierstift unterstützen, ist nicht neu. Bislang unerwähnt blieb aber, dass dieser Stylus druckempfindlich sein soll. Darüber hinaus wird das 12,9-Zoll-Display selbst laut der Quelle auch auf unterschiedliche Druckstufen reagieren, da es offenbar Apples neue Force-Touch-Technologie integriert. Force Touch wurde von den Kaliforniern zusammen mit der Apple Watch angekündigt und findet mittlerweile nicht nur dort, sondern auch beim Trackpad des neuen MacBooks und des 2015er MacBook Pro 13 Zoll Verwendung.

Wie schon andere Publikation zuvor, kann leider auch Apple Insider noch keinen exakten Termin für die Markteinführung des iPad Pro nennen. Das Wall Street Journal berichtete im März schon einmal, das neue Tablet werde voraussichtlich ab September 2015 in Serie produziert. Apple stellt für gewöhnlich neue iPads im Oktober eines Jahres vor. Es ist also sehr gut möglich, dass auch das iPad Pro in diesem Monat der Weltöffentlichkeit präsentiert werden soll.Derzeit kursieren zwei Codenamen im Netz. Cityman und Talkman. Dahinter sollen sich zwei neue Smartphones der Microsoft Lumia Serie verstecken, die leistungstechnisch hoch angesiedelt werden. Bisher konnte sich Microsoft vor allem im Low-Budget-Segment mit seinen Windows Phone 8.1 Produkten etablieren. Auch die Modelle Lumia 640 und Lumia 640 XL sind Deutschland sehr beliebt. Doch nun soll der High-End-Bereich wiederbelebt werden, um den es lange Zeit still geworden ist.
