Say no to Discrimination against Black Women dating Black Men, embrace it, promote it and encourage it.
There is a belief among some members of racial groups that one who dates outside of the race (Interracial dating) as seen in Black Women Dating White Men, is disloyal, self-loathing or has, for lack of a better word, been brain-washed. This is a wrong mentality as it is contrary to the reasons why people go into relationships, which include care, love, understanding one another and so many others. Date who you want to date, marry whomever you want to marry, but do not neglect your own race to justify your choice.
Some people’s preference is to marry a man that is caring, loving, active, supportive and optimistic. None of those characteristics fall under black, brown, yellow or white. It is good to be with someone, because they compliment you. Get married to someone because living a life without the person is difficult and unimaginable.
In the past, interracial dating, particularly Black Women Dating White Men has been a taboo act. Nowadays, with the popular movies such as: ‘Something New’, ‘ Guess Who’, and many others that featured Black Women Dating White Men, the general acceptability of such couples has increased. Notwithstanding, there are still many people who are bothered by such couples, but there are more and more people in society that are becoming open-minded to these relationships.
One of the prevalent challenges facing Black Women Dating White Men is the cultural differences between the two races involved. These couples are often faced with numerous deep-rooted pressures. Some of the biggest opposition can come from the couple’s family members. The families often strongly oppose the interracial relationship because they fear how it will affect the family’s image in the society.
The expectation of Black Women Dating White Men is that they are to wait for Black to return to them and be satisfied with being “the chick on the side” instead of taking matters into her own hands and extending her love options by dating men of other races. While these couples do face some trials and tribulation, there are many interracial couples that are successful and happily in relationships and/or married. They choose to overlook the outside pressures and forge ahead to enjoy the many amazing benefits of learning about and accepting one another’s culture and creating a happy life together.
