Ion Conductance Microscopy Specialist Announces International SPM Symposium In 2021.

The Fraunhofer Institute for heterostructure of Materials Systems, along with Park Systems has announced an international SPM Symposium on Failure Analysis and Material Testing. This was announced on April 14, 2021, to take place on July 1, 2021. The International SPM Symposium on Failure Analysis and Material Testing 2021 (FAMT) is to be held virtually, due to the current pandemic and making it available to interested attendees from around the world. FAMT will gather electronics industry professionals discussing innovative testing methods and tools for failure analysis of the future.

Miniaturization is shaping the modern technology world with design complexity in electronic components, the heterogeneity of new materials are on the rise as device sizes become smaller by the year. New engineering products need to be sustainable, reliable and have a good line span in order to meet international quality standards. Order to detect and classify nanometer sized materials requires the characterization methods with a resolution in nanometer ranges.

High integration density has been a big and ongoing challenge when it comes to the quality and reliability of small components, which is why sophisticated methods for future analysis are essential. The symposium will present new approaches to help the industry develop robust electronic products in the future. FAMT program includes keynote talks from case studies in semiconductor device applications to innovative methods and tools which can be used for the characterization of materials and reviews on defects within the electronics industry, along with future methods to increase productivity, yield and efficiency.

Keibock Lee, the President at Park Systems, said “Microscopy has been proven as a useful and critical technique in understanding and identifying three-dimensional root cause mechanisms. The symposium will present sample preparation techniques, along with analysis for advanced node devices using scanning probe microscopy. This is a virtual event with free access. Interested parties can register on our website or on the FAMT2021 symposium site.”
