Plano, TX, July 18, 2016 – The Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery is running for a cause this September and they want you to join the team.

“Richardson’s Heart of Gold 5K and Fun Run to benefit Heroes for Children is an excellent opportunity for our staff, patients and the community to come together for a common goal while having an excellent time in the process,” says Dr. Nick Nicholson, founder and lead surgeon at the North Texas-based Nicholson Clinic, one of the top weight loss surgery centers in the country. “Proceeds from the race benefit children battling cancer, which is an incredible motivation in itself. Our team also plans to pull out the stops to help members train and prepare for the event. This, we hope, will help participants on their weight loss journey while also adding to the sense of camaraderie we hope runners will enjoy.”

The Heart of Gold 5K and Fun Run is set to take place Sept. 24 at The Plaza at Galatyn Park. The cost to enter is $25 for adults and $15 for children 14 and under. Money raised will help provide financial and social assistance to families with children fighting cancer. Since its inception in 2004, Heroes for Children has provided $5.5 million to more than 4,500 families in need.

Nicholson Clinic’s own Marilyn Hoyt, C.P.T., has put together a 5K training plan to help team members get ready for the big day. Endurance House is also inviting team members to join a free group run/walk on Wednesdays to help them prepare.

“This is just an exceptional way for the community to come together to support a great cause while team members work toward their own fitness goals,” Nicholson says.
