There is lots of fresh material with Episode 5 to help keep players active, and the narrative is back to being focused around ARKS and combating the Dark Falz. Alongside all these exciting new features, new things and Scratch Tickets will also be out, and fresh Urgent Quests will be on how to freshen up things in PSO2.

More about Sega's next generation of Phantasy Star Online was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and New Genesis is shaping up to be a significant upgrade from the present game. There are still lots of details to be revealed as time goes one, but a few significant things like battle and the world are much clearer. Hiro Arai from Sega has been live for almost an hour to show footage off of gameplay and also speak about what new items are on the road. Not much was said about the current game as well as the upgrade coming alongside NG's launch other than the graphic upgrade, which is looking fantastic.

Maps are no longer split into regions with loading screens. NG will have a completely open world in the home base to the area. The TGS footage showed off a gorgeous new world that is a substantial update from the current game. Arai cites that distinct regions can be attained easily simply by traversing the world. It seems like this is the planet Naberious in the present game, with woods being adjacent to tundra and other areas. Areas continue to be technically split up, but there is no loading between them. While it hasn't been straight said, an open world such as this suggests there may not be single party areas . Most shown in the footage were multi-party areas where there were other gamers. The cover for multi-party places continues to be lowered to eight down from twelve in the present PSO2, but who you see will differ from area to area.

Weather is making a much better comeback as it affects dynamically and can impact the battlefield, although the size of the effect wasn't spoken of. Time may also change, and footage showed some nice touches such as fireflies in the forests at night. There's no word on quick travel, vehicles or mounts nevertheless, but Sega has implemented several new methods for players to move fast across this large new universe. Players will be able to run faster following a dodge both in and outside of combat. A blue streak follows underfoot, so you will know you're doing it right once you view it.

Another important addition to motion shown off in the initial NG trailer is the slide. It goes as far as a few of the screenshots have left it look. Players can get to high ground and leap off to glide and get pretty damn much across the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you'll be able to make you're way up a mountain to glide off from -- but without anything inhibiting you like endurance. It will also make for some dramatic entrances in to conflict. Sega mentioned that gathering and crafting could be getting an overhaul, and while we did not get a look at crafting, we did see how much nicer it would be to snag items in the specialty. Gathering can be done on the fly, very similar to Monster Hunter: World. Get close to an item, and tap a button. Fruit can be picked in trees, you will find fresh docile creatures that can be hunted for meat and other items and healing items can be seen through the property as green glowing indicators called Resta Signs. It's much more intuitive than the present game.
