Creating value through human asset management in Saudi Arabia

The 5th Kingdom Human Asset Management event witnessed key stakeholders from the Saudi Arabian human resources industry come together & engage in a constructive dialogue of the shifting trends in the regional industry and the Saudi Vision 2030.
 
The 5th edition of the Kingdom Human Asset Management kicked off on a high note at the Rosh Rayhaan hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The event was inaugurated by the event chair for the day – Hisham Al-Dabbagh – Member of the Executive Committee at Amrop followed by a session by Abdulaziz Al Sehri – CHRO at the General Authority of Sport titled 'Human resource management: Landscape in midst of Saudization'. The morning session of the first day featured presentations on nationalization, digital revolution, employee engagement and HR transformation by Abdallah Al-Slaim – Director of HR Services at BAE systems, Mansour Abdulghaffar – Principal at Amrop, Khaled Sayoti – CHRO at SIPCO, Mark Costello – Corporate Client Director at Ashridge Executive Education and Othman Al-Haddi – CHRO at Binladen Holding Company.

Second half of the day witnessed in-depth sessions on recruitment and talent sourcing by Dennis O'Donnell – CEO at Oakwood International Ltd, Rami H. Busbait – Talent Development & Knowledge Management Division Head and Mashail Al Demaigi – HR Director at Prince Sultan University, followed by an exclusive 1-on-1 business meeting session which facilitated business discussions between global service providers and key decision makers. The key highlights of the day included a CHRO panel discussion titled 'The future of human resources in 2020' that witnessed participation of Mohammed Mosly – Co-Founder at Integrator of Dimam, Othman Al-Haddi, Khaled Sayoti, Yaser A. Alsaeed – CHRO at Nesma & Partners and Saud Alshammari – CHRO at Jawwy.

The second day of the event began with a presentation titled 'The impact of leadership effectiveness on workplace culture and engagement' by Rawan Jalal – Director of Organizational Development at Bupa Arabia that delved into the evolving role of hr in Saudi Arabia today and strategies being adopted by companies towards creating meaningful employee engagement. Speaking about Bupa Arabia's initiatives in promoting employee engagement and workplace culture, Rawan said “While our ambition is to be the Arab world’s greatest healthcare company, we also seek to be the region’s talent magnet. We take the wellness of our employees seriously. We believe a happy employee is a stress-free and healthy employee, which is why we created facilities to help them manage their time and personal health. For example, we created agile work programmes that help people work from home. Other examples include daycare services for children aged three months to three years, in-house gyms and personal trainers, a health lounge for health assessments, and a canteen serving healthy meals to employees. Bupa Arabia is considered one of the top employers in the country, really leading cultural change in the Kingdom, where we have 600 female and 1,200 male employees”. Elaborating on Bupa's commitment towards nurturing leadership and talent, she added “We designed a capability framework to attract, train and manage the performance and career development of our people based on one recipe for success. I designed a training and leadership academy and transformed our performance and talent management framework, creating a portal to breed leaders from within”.

The day witnessed stellar presentations by Waleed N F Saud – VP of Business Support at McDonald's Saudi Arabia, Ibrahim Abu Einain – Regional Manager Middle East at ETS Global, Dr. John M. Read – Leadership Development Expert at STC, Turki Nagaidan – General Director of HR Development at Saudi Credit & Saving Bank and Ashraf Fadeal Goamaa - Human Resource Development Consultant. Highlights of the day included a panel discussion titled 'Diversity and inclusion in today's enterprises' with Amani Khalil – Senior Consultant of Leadership Services at Amrop, Tahira Hoke – Academic Accreditation Center Director at Prince Sultan University. Ghadah Benbaz – VP of Human Resources as National Medical Care made an insightful presentation on the role of HR leaders in the National Transformation Program 2020 wherein he explained that the evolution of the HR role will see developments in the social factors, integrated approach and will mark an interactive and a more strategic shift. Rene de Murard – Consultant at Alesayi Development Company presented 'Rethinking and transforming performance management' where she stressed on the need for organizations to adopt principles of continuous improvement by regular employee coaching and embracing the feedback to feed-forward model to improve performance.
