4th Annual Middle East Smart Cities Summit commenced on 8th December 2015
 
December 09, 2015, Dubai, UAE- The Fourth Annual Middle East Smart cities summit, a gathering of regional and global experts was yesterday inaugurated in Dubai, promising a fresh outlook of the GCC smart city sector.

With an aim to make a move towards smarter lifestyle and sustainable development, Fleming. orgainized a two day summit at Pullman Dubai Deira City Centre Hotel, Dubai.The summit opened with a key note delivery by His Excellency Eng. Abdulla Rafia, Assistant Director General- Engineering and planning sector, Dubai Municipality, UAE covering the challenges and issues from the existing infrastructure and resources and also shed light on the changing landscape – Future Middle East Province in 2020.

Moving further, Fleming. delivered welcoming note to all the participants, which was followed by opening remarks from the event chairperson,Roland Abu Najem. This year's summit also featured a host of important speakers, notably Roland Abi Najem, Advisor of the Minister of Information State of kuwait, who spoke about Network Infrastructure Management and Automation Solutions for E-Governance in Smart Cities, Tareq Alemadi, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology State of Qatar, who discussed Global Internet Governance, Prof. Adnan Gutub, who is a Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute of Hajj and Omrah Research, Umm Al-Qura University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia spoke about impact of social media in e-governance.

The event saw hosts representatives of Government and municipal authorities, policy makers, technology providers, service providers, utility professionals and many more. Organized by Fleming., a new brand identity of the previously known Fleming Gulf, the summit focuses on building a stage to debate, discuss, network and chart out a plan for a smart development of the Middle East into a smarter province and hence aiming a new outlook of the GCC smart city sector. The summit carried feature presentations, panel discussions and networking sessions on matters like regulatory and policy framework for smart cities, Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities, role of ICT in future cities infrastructure, smart homes, buildings and infrastructures for smarter cities in presence of top officials across the region like E-Government Authority Kingdom of Bahrain, E-Transformation Section– IT Department, Dubai Municipality, Ministry of Information State of Kuwait, The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department,UAE and many more.

The summit ended on a positive note with closing remarks from the event chairperson and Fleming. with a call to the participants, businesses and distinguished speakers to work together for a common interest i.e; giving a fresh outlook to the GCC smart city sector by adapting smarter lifestyle and sustainable development.
