Dermatologists advise taking a shower twice to three times per week.
The host of the Today Show, Al Roker, publicly disagreed with dermatologists’ advice on how frequently to shower in a recent piece titled “How Often Should You?” This led to a spirited discussion on social media and highlighted the impact of cultural attitudes on personal hygiene practises. The topic was asked to Roker and his co-hosts Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer by Adrianna Brach, the editorial director of Shop TODAY, during the segment: “How often do you think you should shower per week, according to dermatologists?” The options were “Every day, two to three times a week, five times a week, or once a week.”

Jones and Roker chose daily showers, but Dreyer believed individuals should have baths five times each week. The host, who is 68 years old, remained steadfast in his decision to take daily showers and declared, “I don’t care what they say.”Then Brach disclosed that dermatologists advise patients to take showers two to three times per week. Brach emphasised that the frequency is dependent on individual aspects such lifestyle, skin type, age, and activity level as she outlined the skin expert’s justification for this number. This question doesn’t have a universally applicable solution. A daily shower is fine for most people, according to several doctors. (More than that could begin to result in skin issues.)However, for many individuals, two to three times a week is plenty and may even be preferable to maintain good health.
