Meditation effectively dissolves physical and mental tension, making it a popular tool among busy people. There are several approaches to learning and practicing meditation. Some join a meditation center while others prefer the freedom of meditating at home - do what feels right for you.

To get started you'll need a guided meditation for novice meditators, make sure it's a quality meditation. You don't need any previous experience since a voice will guide you through the meditation, these easy-to-follow instructions will keep you right on track. One of the beauties of guided meditation is that it's almost like having your own meditation teacher.

Meditation can be practiced just about anywhere. Ideally in nature or somewhere quiet, but you could meditate while commuting, during coffee breaks or even before going to bed at night. As you may already know, meditation can have a positive effect on sleep - see what it can do for you.

Useful Pointers

Meditate sitting or lying down. The body posture is of little or no importance, the key here is to sit or lie down comfortably. It's easier to meditate when the body and mind are relaxed.

Put on your favorite headphones and press play, then close your eyes and just relax. Always let the body and mind relax while meditating and don't try too hard which only builds up tension. Moreover, it's easier to meditate with the eyes closed, this way you won't get distracted as easily.
