London, UK – Martin Wallace Comedy recently announced that their animated pilot, Friends From Work, has entered pre-production where it will become a seven-episode series. Due to the overwhelming success of the Pilot Episode, creator Martin Wallace is already busy at work giving the animated show’s fans more of what they love.

With seven more episodes planned with a release date of the end of Summer and start of Autumn 2021, Friends From Work will follow the format of the Pilot episode which offered a simple layout and an easy-to-digest 4-5 minute per episode format. Creator Martin Wallace confirmed that the only difference will be upgraded production, something the Pilot episode lacked but fans didn’t notice.

Friends From Work was originally released on YouTube and Amazon Prime Video and, despite its lack of mainstream marketing, received over 17 thousand views on YouTube alone. The series follows protagonist, Ian, as he begins work at a new job and meets and interacts with his co-workers, all based on common workplace stereotypes. It’s this storyline and the stereotypical characters that makes Friends From Work so relatable to its viewers and fanbase.

As can be expected, there is some controversy surrounding the animated series as Wallace’s work colleagues have mentioned similarities between his characters and themselves. Wallace’s response was to shrug it off and state that, “the point of his characters is to represent those figures we have all met in the workplace”. Any similarities that anyone sees between themselves and Wallace’s characters is purely coincidental and completely natural. As with any comedy series based on a workplace environment, we often find ourselves renaming the characters to meet our own office environment.
