TBF Final Fantasy can only be sub-subscribed to. All is well if you purchase the ESO sub. The only issue is the lackluster expansions but they're also at a fraction of the cost of FF expansions and come out twice as often. So when you can double the size of these for the same price, it's pretty competitive.

Shadowbringers, the critically-acclaimed FFXIV expansion is also a success. It's been listed as one of the top Final Fantasy stories over the fifteen years. This is probably the best praise I've heard for an ESO story.

Do it ! I've completed the base game and I've been having fun every second, I don't feel the need to rush to end game due to Ilevel sync, making even old content still challenging, the fact that there are fun activities to engage in other than murder hoboing it up is awesome, I've only started racing chocobo myself, and players I've played the dungeons with never quit after a wipe, and will assist you if you request it.

I'm playing FF currently, but I'm not sure I have a convincing reason to avoid ESO. Both are very enjoyable to play in their own manner. Final Fantasy feels more like an interactive game to me and its story is as good as or superior to any mainline Final Fantasy game. ESO however, on the contrary side, lets you get lost in the world. If you are aware of your Nirn, then ESO provides you with many avenues to be a participant in it. Combat is the biggest issue for a lot of players. FF feels more like WoW. ESO is more similar to GW2 and the later rotations in ESO feel a bit ridiculous in terms of length, but however, but from a gameplay perspective.

They're both very cool and can fill different niches. Personally, I've liked the ESO story more than Final Fantasy's, however, I've played a lot more Elder Scrolls games than I have Final Fantasy games, so I'm familiar with lore and references far more frequently in ESO.
