2K21 introduced a'Legends Edition' to honor the late Kobe Bryant. They've given him multiple tributes from the match, including a Damian Lillard tune about him. However, the ultimate tribute needs to become 2K designing a court in honor of this Mamba. Screenshots like this have become available only after 2K allowed select streamers to play with the match prior to the initiation of the newest consoles. Channels in the 2K community such as Agent 00 have experienced long streams just showing the match on the newest consoles, which has generated significant hype.

NBA 2K21 on next-gen is already a candidate for Game of the Year in my book, but it appears a major update is about the way that's intended to boost the already stellar visuals. Per the game's executive producer Erick Boenisch, the development of the current and next-gen variations of NBA 2K21 was affected by the pandemic. One of the biggest issues they had was gaining access to the players since 2K was not permitted inside the Bubble performing the NBA restart. Nevertheless, Boenisch says in the video below, the 2K group has scanned more than 40 players that should be added to the game in an upgrade scheduled to arrive soon. I tried to get a listing of those players, but that wasn't available currently. However, I was advised that 2K is having to become exceptionally creative in attempts to include as many scans as possible--even travel using their camera rig to player's cities and houses to finish the procedure.

In prior decades, we wouldn't have seen this much transparency in communicating from the developers and executive producer. This really is a refreshing change and quite honestly, this openness with the community may have something to do with the overall quality of the next-gen product that's a masterclass introduction into the consoles.
