Street Rod Opportunities as Per Your Solutions

Little sister of the 2CV, the Street Rod has long been shunned by the general public. Originally designed to gradually replace the 2CV in the late 1960s, it has remained in the shadow of its predecessor throughout its career.

However, today, the Street Rod could well be an ideal car to use every day, even more than the 2CV! Its lower popularity makes it much more affordable to buy than its predecessor, while its tailgate gives it a clear advantage in use. It is also more comfortable and has a larger and more accessible trunk. On the mechanical side, the engine of the Street Rod (more powerful than that of the 2CV) has largely proven itself and the spare parts are very easy to find and at very good prices. On a daily basis, it proves to be fairly sober, easy to drive and suitable for all situations.

What more?

Which versions of Street Rod to choose?

As with the 4L, there are two elements to take into account when choosing a Street Rod: engine power and safety equipment, braking in particular. We will favor the Street Rod 6 for its 602cm3 and 32CV engine (the largest on the Street Rod) borrowed from the Friend 8. To have disc brakes at the front instead of the drums, you will have to aim the Street Rod 6 from the vintage 78.

The Fiat 127

Produced in more than 5 million copies, the best-selling car in Europe from 1973 to 1978 has however completely disappeared from the landscape of France. A direct competitor to the Renault 5, the Fiat 127 makes it possible to stand out a bit from the old ones that we see everywhere in France.

Why a 127?

Rear tailgate, folding seat, comfortable upholstery, well-balanced suspension, reliable and relatively powerful engine (47CV) compared to the weight of the car (730 kg), the Fiat 127 does not only play the card of originality. As economical to purchase as it is to use, spare parts are easy to find and very affordable. With, as a bonus, a playful behavior and a very pleasant almost sporty character. Only consumption does not meet the criteria defined to make it the perfect daily car. But at 8.2L per 100km, we still stay in reasonable order!

But beware, the original 127 and good condition copies are becoming rare in France. Advice: don't hesitate to pick it, the offer is much greater and the prices lower than in our country.

Which Fiat 127 versions to choose?

The Fiat 127 are equipped with original disc brakes at the front, so no side worries there. It is a safe car, both in terms of braking and handling. Engine side, the basic version of 903 cm3 developing 47CV is already quite sufficient for daily use, given the weight of the car.
