Offshore Safety & Risk Forum in Stavanger,Norway to address challenges being faced by the offshore industry and achieving goal zero at offshore sites.

The European Union (EU) recently adopted a directive on the safety of offshore oil and gas operations, making sure that the highest safety standards will be followed at every oil and gas platform across Europe. It will ensure that companies react effectively and promptly should an accident ever occur, thus minimizing possible damage to the environment and the livelihoods of coastal communities. A number of historic disasters at offshore sites have created a need for safer and risk free operations for smooth and efficient functioning of people, processes and production. Bringing to attention these factors, and the various safety measures being taken at offshore sites, Fleming Gulf will be launching the Offshore Risk and Safety Forum taking place on 11 – 12 February, 2014 at Stavanger, Norway.

Themed as “Enabling People & Processes" this summit will bring together industry experts focusing on how companies can achieve goal zero through safer operations at offshore sites. Safety and risk management are key issues affecting all staff on offshore production facilities. The highly volatile nature and unpredictable properties of the product make the activity of offshore production, processing and storage very risky. Offshore sites are vulnerable to a number of major hazards such as loss of well control, fires and explosions from the process plant or ship collisions.Bringing light to these issues the conference will highlight topics such as - effectively handling risks associated with ageing assets, how much to rely on your systems when managing emergencies & risks and threats of uncontrolled hydrocarbon releases to the environment and ecology among others.

The conference will bring together speakers from Premier Oil, OMV, Statoil, Technip & European Commission apprising attendees of the best and latest trends in the industry. Delegates will be taken through panel discussions with topics ranging from personal to process safety to name a few. Numerous presentations on risk-based & preventative maintenance methods, will create an excellent opportunity for delegates to understand how to deploy the most appropriate action and employ cost-efficient advanced technologies for a risk free environment. Lessons learnt from past incidents will help understand how to deal with impending safety risks at offshore sites.
