Summit to address the importance of occupational health safety.
 
A safe work environment not only reduce the risk of personal injury, but also impacts on project timelines, saving costs and productivity. As per recent reports by ILO, 'Growing number of work-related diseases, claim an estimated 2 million lives per year'. Emphasizing on the need to prevent occupational accidents, occupational diseases and workrelated health hazards, Fleming Gulf is back with the 3rd Annual Middle East OHS Strategy Summit scheduled on 7-9 May in Le Meridien Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Outlining the role of managers and ways to develop a proactive safety culture at the summit will be Ahmed Ajabnoor, Director ISD & GA from MA’ADEN. Fatigue is one of the leading factors contributing to risk of being injured or killed; elaborating on detection of fatigue in order to avoid adverse effects at the summit will be Dr. Kashif Afzal, Health Director-Middle East from BP.

Another key topic at the summit will address Saudi Aramco's role in resolving traffic safety in Saudi Arabia. Sultan H. Al-Zahrani, Director-Traffic Safety Signature Program will talk about the four E’s-engineering, enforcement,education, and emergency Response of traffic safety strategy. Keeping in mind the rate of traffic accidents per individual in the Kingdom is much higher than in developed countries. Stated in reports by Arab News, 'Experts predict that if the current rate of traffic accidents continue, the Kingdom may have four million traffic accidents a year by 2030. There are approximately 7,100 road fatalities every year and 38,000 seriously injured individuals, of whom 7 percent are permanently disabled'.

The prestigious speaker panelist includes Dr. Ali Salem Al Alili, Director of Occupational Health & Safety from Ministry of Labour-U.A.E., Sergey Peresypkin, Director HSE-Middle East from Baker Hughes and Dr. Syed Z. Hussaini, Occupational Health Specialist from RasGas. The 3rd Annual Middle East OHS Strategy Summit will give an opportunity to network with Government Entities and Health, Safety & Environment decision makers from Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals Industries, Utilities, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Transport.
