Michael Surkein, Senior Materials and Corrosion Consultant at ExxonMobil - USA to present at the 3rd Annual Corrosion Management Summit

Floating Production, Storage and Offloading - FPSO provides a very cost effective solution for oil exploration in deepwater and remote locations, without having to lay long distance pipelines. As FPSO is exposed to water and moisture, corrosion control and inhibition plays a very important role in ensuring sustained and effective operations. "For the Middle East FPSO market, corrosion control by design is critical. Proper choice of coatings coupled with high quality application standards are a must to achieve long reliable operating life. Also, development of a practical cost effective integrity program is necessary for safe operation", said Michael Surkein, Senior Materials and Corrosion Consultant at ExxonMobil - USA who is scheduled to speak at the 3rd Annual Corrosion Management Summit. The summit to be held from 28 - 30 April 2014 will gather global corrosion experts to deliberate on the latest corrosion management developments and practices. Surkein will deliver the keynote address on Floating Production Storage Offloading - FPSO corrosion control design to obtain a long reliable life. With an experience of over 32 years Surkein acts as an advisor across all ExxonMobil upstream companies.

The summit will also look at topics like using non-conventional protection techniques for Corrosion Under Insulation CUI, corrosion detection & monitoring using advanced UT techniques, cost effective mitigation of atmospheric corrosion in offshore & onshore installations and development of novel alloy and nanocomposite coatings for high wear and corrosive applications among others.

Delegates at the summit will get an opportunity to participate in panel discussions on the need for corrosion knowledge management as per organizational objectives, steps taken to measure corrosion through Risk Based Inspection (RBI) and measures to be taken to minimize external corrosion for enhanced pipeline integrity. This will serve as an excellent opportunity for delegates to learn best global best practices and address their queries. The summit is being endorsed by SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings and The Institute of Materials Finishing - IMF.
