Latino Founder Businesses Grow in the United States in 2024

The United States has seen a growth in Latino founder businesses in 2024.
 
Close to twenty five percent of new business founders in 2021 in the United States were Latino. Latino founders also saw a twenty five percent revenue increase post the pandemic. A recent report released by the US Department of Treasury showed that Latino owned businesses and revenues have increased, grown and are sustained.

The United States is currently home to more than sixty two million Latinos that represent nineteen percent of the total population with an economic output of close to $3 trillion. There are almost five million Latino founder businesses in the United States today that generate more than $800 billion in annual revenue.

The pandemic definitely caused harm to many Latino founders and their communities. At the peak of the pandemic, it as Latinos that were more likely to lose their jobs. They also had the highest mortality rates. Unemployment peaked close to nineteen percent in 2020. As a result more Latino founder startups were introduced with a surge in business applications. The average monthly business application growth was fifty percent higher from 2021 to 2023, when compared to 2018 to 2019. Close to twenty five percent of all new business founders were Latino in 2021.

The majority of self-employed business owners were Latino and this has grown exponentially over the past few years. There was an 8.9% increase in the number of self-employed Latinos in the first eight months of 2019 and 10.2% increase in the first eight months of 2023.
