Das neue Surface Book verfügt über einen 256 Gigabyte großen internen SSD-Speicher. Der Arbeits­speicher beträgt 8 Gigabyte. Bei der Ausstattung verzichtet der Anbieter auf ein paar Details: Es fehlt zwar ein HDMI-Anschluss, der Computer lässt sich aber per USB-C-Anschluss und Adapter an den Fernseher oder andere Monitore anschließen. Ein GPS-Empfänger zur genauen Positions­bestimmung und Navigation existiert ebenfalls nicht. Eine tech­nische Neuerung bietet das Convertible: Es lässt sich per Gesichts­erkennung entsperren. Das funk­tionierte im Test reibungs­los. Mit einem Foto des Nutzers ließ sich das Surface Book 2 nicht austricksen. Diese Art der Gerä­teent­sperrung kann also eine Alternative zum Pass­wort sein.

Das Surface Book 2 ist eine gute Wahl für alle, die Notebook und Tablet in einem suchen. Das Convertible lässt sich flexibel nutzen, bietet eine tolle Rechen­leistung und eine super Akku­lauf­zeit, wenn Display und Tastatur miteinander verbunden sind. Mit den guten Convertibles aus unserem letzten Test hält das Microsoft-Gerät mit. Einzige Minus­punkte: Das Gerät ist schwer und teuer.

Explodierende oder in Brand geratene Akkus gehören zu der Horrorvorstellung von Handy- und Laptopnutzern. Entsprechende Fälle sind ungewöhnlich, aber prinzipiell möglich. Gerade erst ist in Freiburg ein Mann gestorben, nachdem sein überhitzter Laptop-Akku einen Brand ausgelöst hatte (wir berichteten).Der 44-Jährige ist bei einem Wohnungsbrand im Freiburger Stadtteil Mooswald durch Rauchgas ums Leben gekommen. Ursache für das Feuer war ein überhitzter Laptop-Akku, da sind sich die Ermittler sicher. Der Akku fing Feuer, das sich dann auf das Bett und die Möbel ausgedehnt hat. Ein tragisches, wenn auch seltenes Ereignis. Der Freiburger Polizeisprecher Dirk Klose und seine Kollegen können sich an keinen vergleichbaren Fall erinnern.
