[Spain, 18/10/2017] – Canary Sail, based in San Sebastián De La Gomera, with a second office in Tenerife, offers sailboat handling and berthing courses at day skipper level and above. These courses are designed to improve skills, especially sailing and berthing within confined spaces.

Experience the Wind and Sea of the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands offer picturesque views and ideal sailing conditions, with warm yet breezy weather all year round. Quiet and peaceful, it is a charming locale full of culture and tradition. Applicants will experience the wind and sea around the beautiful island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands. La Gomera is one of the smallest of seven main islands, and a fantastic place for sailors of all levels to hone their boating skills. Alternatively, applicants can start from Tenerife, beginning at the San Miguel or Amarilla Golf Marina, but will sail on to La Gomera to partake in the training courses.

Sailing with Canary Sail

The boat handling course is a six-day excursion that will cover advanced handling skills, including steerage and prop wash, prop walk, windage and slide whilst berthing and unberthing yachts. Participants are expected to have improved their handling skills in confined spaces upon completion of the course.

Canary Sail courses are Royal Yachting Association (RYA) approved. During the first day, the Canary Sail crew and instructors will arrive at the student’s chosen base and settle them onto their yacht. This is followed by an evening of food and drinks with fellow students and crew at some of the best restaurants on the island.

The first few days will cover boat handling in the marina. By the fourth day, participants will sail off to a new destination, where they will practice their boat handling skills at a different marina environment before returning to their chosen base.

The course ends with a dinner for all the crew and students who complete the course.
