13 December 2019 - Brio Energy Pvt. Ltd., a provider of energy efficiency solutions to industries in India, has installed a microturbine at ONGC to comply with Government’s Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for North-East.

Recently, Brio Energy Pvt. Ltd., has shared its knowledge and expertise about clean and reliable energy solutions with ONGC and installed a Microturbine at its Assam Asset unit at GGS-1, Geleky having a capacity of 200 KW (ISO). This is the largest Microturbine installed by Brio Energy in India.

It will save around 1200 m3/day of gas flaring and convert it into useful electrical power. Since the reduction of flare gas is the prime concern of the ONGC to minimize the loss of valuable natural resources as well as curb the pollution, microturbine installation is a valuable step towards this direction while complying with Government’s Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for North-East initiative.

The Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for north-east India outlines the steps to take advantage of the hydrocarbon sector for the development of the region in Guwahati. The prime objectives of the plan are –

• To leverage the region’s hydrocarbon potential
• Enhance access to clean fuels
• Improve the availability of petroleum products
• Facilitate economic development and to link common people to the economic activities in this sector.

The states covered include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. The aim is to improve the standard of living for the people, generating opportunities for the youth and creating a sustainable energy secure future.

India burns about 850 million standard cubic meters of natural gas annually and aims to halve the natural gas flaring from its oilfields in a year to curb waste of energy and damage to the environment-The Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH).
