PROMPT, or Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets, is a proved treatment procedure that provides a different approach to speech therapy and can address the speech and language problems.

Previously it was thought if a child is taught to produce sounds and words by using only auditory cues, they would gradually start talking. But the children facing problem to utter words and other articulation problems can be highly benefited by prompt speech therapy.

PROMPT, or Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets, is a proved treatment procedure that provides a different approach to speech therapy and can address the speech and language problems.

Benefits of PROMPT speech therapy

>PROMPT adds a multidimensional approach using tactile-kinesthetic cues to use lips, tongue, and jaw to a series of movements to produce sounds and words.
>PROMPT enables for practice to targeted sounds and words.
>PROMPT works where traditional speech therapy fails to provide the desired result.

Here are a Few Reasons How PROMPT Therapy Could Benefit Your Child:

There are several speech therapy centers in Dubai that have team of prompt speech therapists to diagnose each child and provide customized therapy programs.

The therapy treats the child as a whole, considering all areas of development by taking into account the different aspects that could impact a child’s normal life, such as (linguistic, physical/sensory, and social or emotional factors).

It takes a motor perspective on the child’s speech development from the first diagnosis to all through the treatment.

PROMPT includes therapy from the beginning of speech development through a hierarchy as the child’s motor speech system continues to develop. For example, a PROMPT trained specialist can work with the children on specific jaw movements to help them open and close the mouth and make simple babbling sounds, before working on the complex sounds that need tongue movement.

It helps to appropriately help to diagnose a variety of articulation problem including, but not limited to – Autism, Down syndrome, Childhood Apraxia of speech and other phonological disorder, etc.
PROMPT speech therapists employ touch cues on the children for helping them to develop oral muscular movements using the jaw, lips, teeth, and tongue for articulation.

Practical Applications of PROMPT Therapy:

If an 18-month-old baby isn’t able to utter sounds or imitate other sounds then PROMPT should be used to stimulate language. If a two-year-old child is unable to talk, it is wise to help facilitate speech. When a child is 4 year talking but omitting sounds, PROMPT therapy can help to utter the vowels and stabilize the jaw to enhance the speech production.
