Meet Teiji Utsumi, London’s leading hair artist

It was in 2005 when Teiji Utsumi took the biggest jump of his career and moved from his home town Nara in Japan to the opposite side of the globe to London. As London is one of the world’s leading fashion capitals, Teiji built his career as a leading hairstylist for several of the most prominent fashion magazines. It was a career which included names such as Hugo Boss, Vogue US and Vogue Russia, ISSEY MIYAKE, Paul Smith and Dazed to name only some. From this rich repertoire of experiences and his appreciation and passion for creating the extraordinary, he moved to the next stage in his career and opened a Japanese hair salon.

“A Japanese hair salon in London is the perfect fusion of West meets East. We have the privilege of working with clients who share our passion for inventiveness and love to explore new styles and trends. Our salon is vibrant and exciting and each of our staff members is an expert, delivering nothing but exceptional hair care,” says Teiji Utsumi. One of the newest interests which Teiji is pursuing is that of wig making.

Except for a hair fanatic, the talented man is also into fashion photography and is a great supporter of the industry. As he has been involved in the fashion industry for so long, his network with fashion photographers is strong and this is highly beneficial to his hobby of collecting outstanding fashion images and even books. He offers these for sale on the Haco Hair Salon website and a percentage of the proceeds from these sales he gives back to the community through financial support to the British Red Cross.

It is not the only way how Teiji contributes to those in need as he also opened the salon for anyone willing to donate their hair to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs for those who suffered illnesses leaving them bold. While his staff offers a 50% discount on your hair cut when you are willing to donate your hair, Teiji is willing to cut your hair completely free of charge to show gratitude for your donation.

The word Haco means box in Japanese and is a symbol representing anticipation, interest and excitement over what is in the box. It often holds a gift or can even represent a jewellery box filled with your most precious jewels. All these feelings are what you will experience when you rely on the interesting, mystical and very warm and friendly expertise of the team at Haco Hair Salon under the guidance of a man never shy to offer a helping hand.
