Companion affection is replaced by influence in KotFE



With Game Update 4.0, Companions Affection is replaced by Influence at 1:1 converted ratio, meaning that all affection you have gained won’t be lost but changed as Influence. An amazing feature in this transformation is that you needn’t flatter the companions to get rewards. Instead, when you make a decision, whether that Companion likes or dislikes it, you will still build Influence with them (as your decision still has a narrative story Influence over them in some way).



Switch companions between combats roles in swtor 4.0

Companion gift value changes and new rank 6 gifts



With the affection converting to influence, there are some tweaks to gift values and their mechanics: firstly, the base value of all gifts has been increased by 33%; secondly, Blue (Prototype) gifts value increased by an additional 20%; thirdly, gifts of a given rank last much longer before their values start degrading, and they now degrade more slowly when they do start to degrade. Besides, in addition to the previous gift ranks, new rank 6 gifts and Legendary rank gifts are added in swtor 4.0, along with two new kinds of companions’ gifts: Artwork and Consumables.



Base tradeskill bonuses for companion is removed



The base tradeskill bonuses for all companions have had are being removed from KotFE because players felt restricted to the "right companion for the right job". By removing inherent tradeskill bonuses, players will hopefully utilize all characters to max level.
