Für ein 14-Zoll-Notebook ist das ThinkPad X1 Carbon ein echtes Leichtgewicht. Das Notebook wiegt gerade einmal 1.133 Gramm. Da kommt einem das Netzteil (348 Gramm) im Vergleich fast schon schwer vor. Insgesamt muss der X1-Käufer aber nur knapp 1,5 Kilo durch die Gegend schleppen. Gut: Trotz geringen Gewichts hält das ThinkPad lange durch. Beim Arbeiten sind mindestens viereinhalb Stunden drin, beim Videogucken ein paar Minuten weniger – jeweils bei voller Bildschirmhelligkeit. Wer das Display etwas dunkler stellt, schafft auch fünf Stunden ohne Tankstopp. Und der fällt dank ordentlicher Netzteil-Power recht kurz aus. Nach gut zwei Stunden ist der Akku wieder voll.

Das ThinkPad X1 Carbon hat gleich vier USB-Anschlüsse, darunter zwei USB-C-Buchsen mit Thunderbolt-Technik. Damit sind sie mindestens viermal schneller als USB-Buchsen ohne Thunderbolt. Das reicht, um Daten mit vollem Tempo zu übertragen und gleichzeitig einen 4K-Bildschirm per USB-C-Kabel anzuschließen. Der USB-C-Anschluss dient auch zum Aufladen des Akkus. Vorteil: Neben dem mitgelieferten Netzteil passen auch USB-C-Ladegeräte anderer Hersteller. Wer mehrere Notebooks nutzt, muss da nicht für jedes ein eigenes Netzteil mitnehmen.
Aufrüsten ist beim Lenovo etwas fummelig: Nach dem Lösen der Schrauben muss noch der Bodendeckel ausgehakt werden. Danach lässt sich die SSD sehr einfach austauschen. Der Arbeitsspeicher ist leider aufgelötet, da muss der Kunde beim Kauf die richtige Größe bestellen, nachträglich geht nichts mehr. Das gilt auch fürs LTE-Modul, um mobil ins Internet zu gehen. Auch hier ein Nachrüsten leider nicht möglich – trotz vorhandenem Mini-PCIe-Steckplatz.

Was die einzelnen Modelle betrifft: Dem Vernehmen nach gibt es eine Neuauflage des iPhone X, die laut dem Blog “9to5Mac” iPhone Xs heißen soll (was gemäß Apples bisheriger Namensgebung “10s” ausgesprochen würde), mit einer unveränderten Bildschirm-Diagonalen von 5,8 Zoll (14,7 cm). Darüber hinaus sei eine größere Version mit einem 6,5-Zoll-Display geplant. Die günstigere Variante – ein Nachfolger des aktuellen iPhone 8 – soll demnach einen LCD-Bildschirm statt der kontrastreicheren OLED-Technologie und ein Gehäuse aus Aluminium statt Edelstahl bekommen, mit verschiedenen Farb-Varianten. Nach Informationen des Finanzdienstes Bloomberg könnte es den Namen iPhone Xr bekommen. Und die neue Version des teureren iPhone X soll es nun auch mit einem Goldton geben.
