Doch zunächst frühstücken wir noch das Display ab, das man nicht nur auf seine bloße Größe reduzieren sollte. Die Auflösung ist mit Full HD+ (2314x1080 Pixel) und einer Pixeldichte von 388 Pixeln pro Zoll ausreichend scharf, einzelne Pixel zählen ist nicht. Durch das kräftige OLED-Panel sind die Farben knallig bunt und die Kontraste erfreulich hoch. Das Vivo mausert sich somit zum mobilen Taschen-TV. Am See unter starker Sonneneinstrahlung lässt sich dann aber nicht mehr viel erkennen – im Vergleich mit der hellen Handy-Elite fehlt es dem NEX etwas an Leuchtkraft. Damit der Bildschirm sich so ausbreiten darf wie beim Vivo NEX, müssen „störende“ Elemente verschwinden. So fliegen der Fingerabdruckscanner und die Frontkamera hochkant aus der Front raus. Doch keine Sorge, verzichten müssen Sie auf diese elementaren Handy-Funktionen nicht. Doch der Reihe nach. Damit die spätestens durch Apples iPhone X in Mode gekommene Notch verschwindet, verbaut Vivo die Frontknipse kurzerhand an der Oberseite – ausfahrbar versteht sich. Sie lesen richtig! Die Akkulaufzeit ist ähnlich stark wie der Rest des Flaggschiffs. Die Batterieanzeige will nur langsam fallen, der Akku meistert einen Arbeitstag mit vielen Interaktionen mühelos und hat noch genug Saft für den Abend und den Start in den darauffolgenden Tag. Schnellladefunktion, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 und sogar das für Deutschland so wichtige LTE Band 20 (für die 800 Megahertz-Frequenz) mit Dual-SIM-Funktion ist im NEX enthalten. Gerade letzteres ist bei einem China-Smartphone nicht selbstverständlich. Nur drahtloses Laden und eine zertifizierte Wasserdichtigkeit fehlen. Sprachprobleme treten übrigens nicht auf: Das NEX kommt mit einer alternativen und Apples iOS-System sehr ähnlichen Oberfläche, die auf Android 8.1. basiert – zum Glück komplett auf Deutsch. Allerdings muss der Nutzer – typisch für Importe aus China – den Google Play Store selbst installieren.
