Die versprochene aktuelle Technik besteht je nach Modell aus Intel Core- oder Intel Pentium Gold/Silver- und Celeron-Prozessoren. Die Palette reicht dabei von den neuen Intel "Gemini Lake"-SoCs der erwähnten Pentium- und Celeron-Serien bis hoch zum Intel Core i7-8550U, der mit 1,7 Gigahertz Basistakt arbeitet und seine inzwischen vier Kerne auf bis zu 4,0 GHz beschleunigen lassen kann.
Beim Arbeitsspeicher setzt man leider Grenzen, denn neben den vier Gigabyte, die ab Werk auf dem Mainboard verlötet sind, befindet sich im zweiten Slot maximal ein weiteres 4-GB-Modul, das allerdings wohl vom Nutzer gegen ein größeres ausgetauscht werden kann. Beim Massenspeicher setzt auch Lenovo nun auf eine breite Palette. Wie ASUS bietet man einerseits die Option, PCIe-SSDs mit Festplatten zu kombinieren, andererseits werden aber auch teilweise einfache eMMC-SSDs verbaut oder eben nur Festplatten.

Bei den Ports zeigt sich Lenovo spendabel, denn das V330-14 hat sowohl einen USB-C-Anschluss mit USB-3.1-Support, als auch zwei USB-3.0-Ports, einen VGA- und einen HDMI-Ausgang, einen Ethernet-Port und einen kombinierten Audioanschluss. Dazu gesellt sich auch noch ein normalgroßer SD-Kartenleser. Gefunkt wird ausschließlich per Gigabit-WLAN mit Dual-Band-Support und Bluetooth 4.1. Mit 1,6 Kilogramm ist das Lenovo V330 14 relativ leicht, während es mit 20,3 Millimetern sehr dünn ausfällt.
Besonders interessant wird es aber vor allem auch dadurch, dass Lenovo hier offenbar selbst in den günstigsten Versionen die Option der Erweiterung des Akkus bietet. Wie bei anderen Lenovo-Notebooks, die normalerweise zur ThinkPad-Familie gehören, ist hier nämlich die sogenannte UltraBay integriert - ein zusätzlicher Einschub an der Front des Geräts, über den ein Zusatzakku eingesetzt werden kann. Wie groß die Stromspeicher im V330 selbst und zum Einschub in die UltraBay jeweils sind, wissen wir derzeit noch nicht. Letztlich sollten aber wohl zumindest bei kombiniertem Betrieb enorme Laufzeiten möglich werden.

Akkus, die auf Wasser basieren, existieren bereits, aber sie hatten bislang immer zwei große Nachteile: Die erzeugte Spannung und die Lebensdauer waren zu gering. Diese Probleme konnten die südkoreanischen Wissenschaftler umgehen. Das Team um Professor Kang entwickelte neue Strukturen und Materialien, mit denen der Energieaustausch auf den Oberflächen der Elektroden beschleunigt und der Energieverlust zwischen den Elektroden minimiert wird. Dafür schafften sie polymere Kettenanoden, die auf Graphin basieren. Diese netzartige Struktur von Graphin erhöht die Oberfläche und ermöglicht dadurch eine höhere Kapazität. Für die Kathoden nutzten die Forscher eine Streuung von Metalloxid-Nanopartikel.
