Ab September 2018 sollen sich Automower, die über das Connect-Modul verfügen, über Sprachbefehle an Alexa steuern lassen. Der Benutzer spricht dazu in die Alexa-App auf dem Smartphone oder in ein Echo oder in ein anderes Gerät mit Alexa-Integration wie Garmin Speak oder ein BMW. Sie können dann zum Beispiel von der Küche aus den Automower starten oder stoppen oder sich von ihm sagen lassen, wie viel Rasenfläche er bereits gemäht hat. Wer also schon immer mal mit seinem Rasenmähroboter sprechen wollte, der kann das ab September 2018 zumindest indirekt mit den Husqvarna-Modellen machen. Über den Umweg via Echo oder die Alexa-App.

Derzeit nur in der Erprobung und mittelfristig noch nicht verkaufsbereit sind Automower mit integrierter Alexa-Sprachsteuerung. Dabei geht es darum, dass Sie, wenn Sie nach Hause kommen und durch den Garten gehen, direkt mit Ihrem Automower sprechen (und dabei vermutlich zumindest anfangs besorgte Blicke Ihrer Nachbarn ernten…). Sie sprechen also mit dem Roboter ohne Umweg über Alexa-App oder Echo. Diese Integration von Alexa direkt in ein Gerät ähnelt beispielsweise den Sonos-Lautsprechern oder dem bereits oben erwähnten Garmin Speak .Konkreter Vorteil dieses Szenarios: Sie sehen eine Ecke im Garten, die Sie sofort gemäht haben wollen. Dann stellen Sie sich vor Ihren Automower und sagen zu ihm: „Mäh mal dort drüben bitte“. Besonders pedantisch veranlagte Rasen-Liebhaber dürften hierbei auf ihre Kosten kommen. Wobei eigentlich das generelle Mähprinzip der Automower solche gezielten Mähanweisungen unnötig machen sollte: Denn dadurch, dass die Automower ständig mähen, halten Sie den Rasen ohnehin immer und überall gleichmäßig kurz.
