Google recently updated the structured data guidance to emphasise that three structured data formats are acceptable to this search engine giant. The updated Search Central page was updated in the Supported Format section of the introduction to structured data on the Google Search web page. The other two formats, known as RDFa and Microdata are still being used, but Google highly recommends JSON-LD. The search engine giant made minor changes to the title of preceding sections to reflect that the section addressed structured data vocabulary. The section title offers guidance on Google's preferred structured data format, which will aid in SEO success for businesses throughout the world this year.

The updated content is an explanation as to why Google prefers JSON-LD structured data format, but they do also confirm that the other two formats are accepted. Google finds that this format is easier for users to implement and maintain, though they will accept all three formats, as long as the markup is valid and properly implemented.
