New York – United States – 06.08.2021 – It was Francoise Girard that launched and headed the battle against racial discrimination and promoting women’s empowerment. As the president of the International Women’s Health Coalition, she was always dedicated to supporting women’s rights. However, a group of employees in the organization lodged complaints regarding racial discrimination in the organization itself that has always been the pioneer of fighting for the status of women in the male-dominated world.

It came as a rude shock to Francoise Girard and she placed her resignation before the Board of Directors. The Board ordered an investigation on the issues raised by the employee groups using their Twitter handle. Charges against Girard were about racism, discrimination, as well as bullying in the International Women’s Health Coalition and the Board, which directed an investigation of Françoise Girard and her activities in the organization.

A born fighter and one that was convinced about her innocence; Francoise Girard stood firm on her grounds. She also was not afraid to face the Francoise Girard investigation on the allegations made by the so-called former IHWC staff members on the 6th June 2020 using their Twitter handle @TransformIWHC. Allegations were quite serious as it claimed that the IWHC resorts to institutional racism, oppresses the staff, and its leaders lack the commitment to eradicate such social evils.

Specific allegations that lead to the Françoise Girard investigation were that Girard as the president and Yael Gottlieb as the Vice-President of the organization were directly contributing to a structure that was racially biased. The complainants also recommended the resignation of Girard and others involved in the process.

Investigation of Francoise Girard revealed that the allegations made are without any basis. “We did not find any instances of unlawful discrimination or retaliation”, says Morgan Lewis who was entrusted with the investigation by the Board of Directors.

“From the moment I learned about the allegations of my supporting racial discrimination in IWHC I knew that it was unfounded. I have always championed women's rights and empowerment and was not afraid of probes marked as Françoise Girard's investigation”, said Francoise Girard in an interview.
