[MINNESOTA – 03/02/2020] – Conservatory Craftsmen has once again partnered with the University of Minnesota for its annual Spring Flower Show. The show runs from February 1 to March 1 at the Arboretum.

2020 Spring Flower Show: Branching Out
This year’s Spring Flower Show is themed “Branching Out,” a play on the Arboretum’s programming focus of the year. Designed by landscape gardener Jewel Engstrom, the flower show highlights forests from around the world, focusing on the evergreens and birches of Minnesota’s Northwoods.

Glasshouse by Conservatory Craftsmen
Conservatory Craftsmen’s gorgeous glasshouse is the centerpiece of the Spring Flower Show. The all-wood construction features finials and cresting to keep birds off the glass roof, opening windows on the sidewalls, and a front and back door.
Owner Jim Hewitt designed the glasshouse with a rustic feel and with the latest trends from London’s annual Chelsea Flower Show. The theme of the previous flower show was “The Natural World” which, according to Hewitt, was the perfect theme for the Arboretum.

Other Highlights of the Flower Show
Students, faculty, and guests will experience the magic of spring under the canopy. They will find ferns and forests, mossy mushroom logs, and an abundance of birches at every corner.
Visitors can take selfies at a giant artisan throne in a mystical fairy village, the newest addition to the show. A Gift & Garden Shop is also available for visitors to shop for souvenirs.
The 2020 Spring Flower Show also features crystal work by local artist Donna Rice. The glass sculptures consist of camellias, calla lilies, birds, and nests, all made by hand in Rice’s Delano studio.
