Pu Luong is a nature reserve in the north-west of Vietnam. Created in 1999, Pu Luong has an area of 17,662 hectares, including 13,320 hectares which are protected strictly and 4343 hectares reserved for ecological restoration. Pu Luong is considered as the natural reserve of the great tourist, scientific, socio-economic and ecological values.

Pu Luong with terraced rice fields, pristine mountains and villages of wooden houses on stilt nestled at the foot of hills has been for long time a promising land of travelers having passion for discovery. Pu Luong is located at about 130 km in the north-west of Hanoi, in the territory of two districts: Quan Hoa and Ba Thuoc in Thanh Hoa province. The beauty of Pu Luong has wild character of a gigantic suspended garden to wait for the admiration of visitors.


Pu Luong in Which Moments?


The best times to visit Pu Luong are between May and October. From May until July, this nature reserve is covered by the tender green of paddy fields. Between September and October, the rice terraces are yellow and golden when the rice is ripe. Pu Luong becomes prosperous, peaceful and romantic. Alternatively, you can come here in any season of the year to relax in the cool space and fresh air surrounding mountains.


How to Go To Pu Luong?


Pu Luong is located at about 150 km from Hanoi. You can come here easily by road with bike or car. Follow route: Hanoi - Xuan Mai - Ho Chi Minh Trail - Cam Thuy - Route 15 C for the Canh Nang town.

Local residents will celebrate your presence with mountain-style dishes: local chicken, stream snail, bamboo shoots, rice cooked in bamboo, salad made of wild banana flower, grilled duck, local pork ... Interests to Explore Pu Luong:


The discovery of the Pu Luong summit at 1700m from Dong Dieng is a unique experience for adventurous travelers. Since this highest summit, you will have panoramic views of the spectacular scenery of the valleys at the foot of the mountain.

For many foreign visitors, the Kho Muong village is an ideal starting point for treks through Pu Luong. Coming in Kho Muong, apart from landscapes, majestic terrain, visitors can explore the caves with nice stalactites. From Kho Muong, travelers can follow trails to go through four villages: Pon - Thanh Cong - Cao Hoong - Bản Kit to explore the cultural characteristics of the local population or Kho Muong - Uoi - Quan where are located peaceful and hospitable villages…


A place not to be missed at Pu Luong is the waterfall in the Hieu village. From Pho Doan, you will meet many characteristics waterwheels of Thai people. After crossing a suspended bridge, a slope…you will see the waterfall flowing merrily.

Some Things to Remember While Traveling In Pu Luong:


. You follow the weather forecast before going to Pu Luong to avoid the rain.

. If you come here by motorbike, car ... you pay attention to have enough the fuel.

. You should bring: Towel, sunglasses, medicines, sunscreen, anti-insect cream, walking shoes, trekking bag, hat, clothing according to the season...

. If you do not speak the local language, it would require a local guide...
