In most cases, it is easier to apply for citizenship in Canada if you are already living and working there under a temporary work permit. However, keep in mind that you have to continue to work throughout the application process, which can take up to 18 months to complete.

Making an application

There are four main routes you can take when making a work permit application Canada, as indicated below.
You could apply under the Federal Skilled Workers program with pre-arranged employment. There are two steps to this plan when making an application from within Canada.

2. You would have to meet the Federal Skilled Workers points system. It is generally not a problem if you are an educated, skilled worker already living in Canada. You probably qualify for the points needed to pass.

Another route to citizenship you may want to consider is the Canadian Experience Class. It is an option for those people who are unable to meet the point requirement for the Federal Skilled Workers program. This program requires that you either work in Canada for two years at a skilled position or your complete post-secondary studies and work for one year in Canada.

If you qualify under this program, you will have to complete one of the requirements before applying with an immigration consultant Canada.

The Provincial Nominee Program and the Quebec Experience Class are two other routes you could explore if you do not qualify for either of the alternatives.
