Shrimps are common feast items during the holiday season and are visible in the global turnover in the supermarkets. Last year in the same month, there were more than 24 million kilo shrimp exported to the Dutch ports. It is double the preceding year volume as per the statistics of the Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Shrimp exporters have been quite ecstatic with the fact that the demands are high always.

2018 was a record year for shrimp landings. Until 2009, shrimp landings globally have increased and in the subsequent years, the Dutch ports have reported that there were millions of kilos of shrimps landing there. More shocking, in 2019, the landings have increased to 12 million by October.

The pinnacle of traditional shrimp arrivals in October increased and in two months, the Dutch market seemed full of demands. In the month of October, there were huge bulk of shrimp landings taking place on the shore. In the present year, the amount was whooping 3 million kg in the third last month. When asked to Director Megaa Moda, he said, ' as prawn exporters, we are delighted to know that shrimp demands are increasing in the Scandinavian countries, this opens a wing of opportunity for us to produce more quality products so that we can fulfill the requirements'.

The seawater temperatures are dropping in the globe and are again increased before summer, it is helping the shrimps to retreat in deep waters. Moreover, with fluctuating land prices are one of the biggest reasons for the huge demands growing worldwide. In 2019, prices per kilo have witnessed fluctuations for approximately 2.70 euros.
