[Denver, July 21 2016] –EDC Denver, a treatment center, uses an empowerment-based philosophy called CAMSA for the recovery of individuals with an eating disorder. This philosophy has five core concepts: Connection, Acceptance, Mindfulness, Sense of Self and Action.

The philosophy serves as the backbone of EDC Denver’s individualized treatment program which includes psychiatric and psychological evaluations, medical evaluations, therapy sessions, nutritional education, and expressive therapies.

Connection

EDC Denver strives to create an open and supportive environment, where individuals always have an opportunity to connect with the people around them as well as with their own mind, body, and spirit.

Acceptance

The treatment center helps patients accept that they have an eating disorder. Then, they move on to the acceptance of thoughts and feelings, strengths and weaknesses, and the reality of the disorder.

Mindfulness

The center aids patients in the practice of being aware and connected in the moment—a practice that allows an individual to be mindful and non-judgmental in daily life.

Sense of Self

EDC Denver’s treatment program allows patients to identify their individual values and build an authentic sense of self. The center understands the importance of self-worth and self-awareness; therefore they guide patients to recovery through it.

Action

On their fifth core concept, EDC Denver teaches patients how to apply what they learn in the treatment program to situations they may potentially encounter in real life.

EDC Denver provides a safe environment where patients can let down their walls and embrace their authentic selves. Their road to successful recovery includes the constant reminder of self-worth and empowerment by the center’s multi-disciplinary treatment professionals and dedicated staff.
