Plunge into an all year round fishing adventure in Costa Rica

Crocodile Bay is proud to be the largest professional sport fishing team in Central America in Costa Rica. They offer education and training in offshore, inshore, and all-new kayak, and shore fishing with a team of skilled captains and mates.
The boats are fitted with Penn International 50’s and 30’s including Penn spinning and conventional gear outfits in 20 and 30 pounds. Although they use Temple Fork Fly Fishing gear on-site, they welcome anglers to bring their own gear. The crewmembers are mostly locals and know the waters well. They will assist where they can to create an unforgettable experience.
Their sport fishing fleet is made up of 33 and 35-foot Strike Tower boats, and 24 and 25-foot Boston Whaler Outrages, all with the capacity to fish offshore or inshore because of the calm sea conditions in Costa Rica.
“Most of our crew members grew up in the area and you’ll be surprised to find they speak English extremely well. In other fishing operations, many do not speak English. All our fishing excursions are unique and challenging. I’ve been doing this for years and every time I go out to sea it’s as if I’m experiencing it for the first time,” said a spokesperson of Crocodile Bay Resort, Sport Fishing & Expeditions.
Crocodile Bay Resort, Costa Rica includes the fishing licenses for sport fishing, lunch, drinks, PENN, live bait, and other high-end fishing gear. Some of the fishing species seen offshore during sport fishing are marlin, sailfish, dorado, and tuna.
Offshore winds from the north and south cause deep, cold water to rise to the surface called upwelling. Baitfish move into the area resulting in a flat ocean with a high concentration of sailfish in the world, perfect for sport fishing.
The inshore fishing at Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula is a world-class experience sailing 45 minutes in a Boston Whaler or Strike to the Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf) in the hope to catch a roosterfish, snook, or snapper among much other fish.
In offshore fly sportfishing, they supply 12-14 weight rods with fast taper and fighting butt for better casting, and top quality large arbor fly reels with a good line capacity and cork or ceramic drag.
Kayak or shore sport fishing is another way to find the best destination from a different vantage point. After casting a line from the shore the calm Costa Rica waters will guide the line along the shore until there is a feel of a tug to the line.
