Complete Communications Limited, August 16, 2021-The Super Eagles' manager, Gernot Rohr, has chosen a 25 Super Eagles new player roster for Nigeria's next international friendlies against CIV and Tunisia.
The Super Eagles, who are now ranked 29th in the world and third in Africa, will face the Elephants on October 9th, followed by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, who are ranked second in Africa four days later.
Both games were scheduled by the Nigeria Football Federation to prepare the Eagles for the next round of AFCON qualifiers in November, which would be played at home and away against Sierra Leone.
Let's take a look at the top 5 Super Eagles new player.
1.Cyriel DESSERS (KRC Genk, Belgium):
Dessers will finally make his debut as a Super Eagles new player, which had been postponed owing to the coronavirus outbreak. This season, the striker has already scored two goals in five appearances for Genk.
2.Zaidu SANUSI ( FC Porto, Portugal):
Sanusi, a Portuguese left-back, is another hidden talent being found by coach Rohr as he works to strengthen the Super Eagles' defense. Sanusi was a highlight for Santa Clara last season, appearing in 24 games and scoring one goal.
3.Frank ONYEKA (Club: FC Midtiylland, Denmark):
Onyeka, 22, is a relatively unknown figure in Nigeria, but he is a rising star in Denmark, where he has worked his way up the ranks and is now a member of Midtjylland's first team. He's had a good start to the season, with an assist in each of his first two games.
4.Samson TIJANI (TSV Hartberg, Austria):
Following his outstanding performance in last year's FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, the former Golden Eaglets captain was signed by Austrian Premier League team Red Bull Salzburg. He is presently on loan at Hartberg, where he has appeared twice this season.
5.Mathew YAKUBU (SKF Sered, Slovakia):
Yakubu, a relatively unknown goalkeeper now playing in Slovakia, was identified during the Super Eagles' search for a competent goalie. He made his professional Fortuna Liga debut for SKF Sered' against FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce on July 11, 2020.
