Acidizing Plays an Important Role in Oilfield Production

Snyder, TX, Jan 17, 2016 – As hydraulic fracturing brings oilfield production to new locations across the country, many are finding their interest piqued to learn more about how this process works. Different than a straight drill, this process enables oil companies to access natural resources trapped in shale deposits in the earth. Certain chemicals play a critical role in making this possible while also aiming to protect the environment in the process. The acidizing process is one that is critical for ensuring the highest level of production out of every well.

“Getting the highest level of production out of a hydraulic fracturing well is important not only for oil companies, but also the environment,” explain the officials at Chemplex Solvay. “By enabling the highest level of production out of each well created, oilfield acidizing ensures that no resources are wasted before production efforts shift to new sites.”

The acidizing process is especially critical in hydraulic fracturing. This process generally kicks in after a fracturing site has its wells in place. During the process, acid, typically hydrochloric, is injected into the formation at a high pressure. This acid flow creates etching on the fracture faces, freeing more of the natural resource a drilling company is attempting to locate. Acidizing is used essentially to ensure that no resources are wasted in the drilling process.

“Chemicals play an important role in the oilfield drilling process,” Chemplex Solvay’s officials explain. “By helping ensure production flows, the acidizing process enables greater recovery of resources from drill sites.”

Oilfield chemicals, such as acid, are used sparingly in the drilling process. Their use is meant to assist production, help with environmental protection and ensure the safety of other nearby resources, among other purposes.
