After completing a graduation programme, college students are often left with the difficult question- what next? Should I pursue a master's programme from one of the management colleges in Kolkata, or should I work? If you are in the final year or have just graduated, you might know what we are talking about. The title of this article suggests you should consider an MBA or diploma programme after 1-2 years of experience. Keep reading to find out why.

1. You might not be completely sure

Students often tend to opt for the same specialisation as their graduation. That means if you completed a BBA programme in Finance, you are likely to opt for MBA in Finance. While completing your master's programme, you might realise all the number-crunching is making you numb. To ensure you do not come across such situations, you should spend some time working in different fields. This will help you get a clear idea of what you should pursue and be entirely sure of it.

2. The industry wants individuals who know

Put yourself in the shoes of a recruitment officer. If you were to hire a candidate for a management position, who would you choose- An individual who has just completed their MBA degree or the one who has a degree along with work experience? The answer is quite apparent. Whenever it comes to recruiting, the industry often prefers those candidates who know how the industry works and also have the skills and expertise to improve it.

3. Might hamper your salary bracket

Without a doubt, an MBA course will help you get a good salary package. What we are trying to say is, it won't be great. Many business schools offer MBA degrees with a 100% placement rate. A few of these colleges have recruiters who provide packages ranging from Rs. 3.5 lakhs to Rs. 15 lakhs. To make sure you are closer to the end of this range, you need to have something that can help you stand out. Relevant work experience can be this thing for you. With a unique combination of skills, expertise and practical training, you will have what it takes to earn a high salary package.

By now, you might have understood why we say that applying to MBA colleges in West Bengal right after graduation is not the brightest idea. Remember, an MBA programme is a huge investment. This is why you need to ensure you know what you are getting into and are entirely prepared for it. All the best!
