Are you on your way to Panglao Island yet you still don't know a lot about the place you're visiting? We're giving you a list of basic facts about this top destination in Bohol, Philippines.

Let's say you've already bought a plane ticket and booked a Danao Beach Resort in Bohol. Surely, you can't wait to finally fly in and spend your great holiday in the place. But before you do that, you should know a few important facts and tips, which will let you enjoy your trip in the famous island of Panglao.

About the Place

1. Panglao Island is located southwest of Bohol and east of Cebu. It is divided into 2 municipalities: Dauis and Panglao.

2. It is 18 km from Tagbilaran City, the capital and the only city of Bohol. The island is accessible by two bridges and can be reached in a minimum of 20 minutes.

3. The island is known for its beautiful beaches, stunning coral reefs, and wonderful dive spots.

4. Because the place is a major tourist destination, there are many hotels and resorts to choose from. One example is Bohol Sea Resort Panglao, a budget-friendly accommodation that offers guided diving tours.

Popular Attractions

1. Alona Beach - This is unarguably the most popular and probably the most developed beach in Panglao, if not in Bohol. It is a kilometer and a half long, bookended by majestic cliffs. Several restaurants can be found near the beach.

2. Danao Beach - Far more mellow than its noisy neighbour Alona, Danao Beach Panglao consists of patches of fine white sand backed by coconut palms. A resort in Danao also works just fine as a base for exploring the rest of Bohol.

3. Doljo Beach - This place is known for its crystal clear water. It is also very close to Doljo Point and Doljo House Reef, which are spectacular diving sites just off the coast of Panglao.

4. Balicasag Sanctuary - Found in the west of Danao Beach, this is a deep coral wall starting at 3-meter depth and going down to up to 60 meters. The wall offers a good chance to find various nudibranch, eels, frogfish, scorpion fish, and leaf fish. It is also a famous spot for the cleaning station of jackfish, grouper, and wrasse.

Events

1. Ubi Festival - This festivity celebrates the Ubi plant, one of the most popular and prized crops of Bohol. It takes place during the month of January.

2. Pahinungod Festival - This 10-day celebration occurs during the month of May. This event is an homage to Saint San Vicente Ferrer, as well as city of Calape’s history and traditions.

3. Bolibongkingking Festival - This feast highlights the tradition and rich heritage of the people of Loboc. You can partake in this celebration while billeted in a Danao Beach Resort in Bohol.
