Seniors are more likely to experience depression and boredom because of a number of reasons.

Retirement can be a monumental change and can bring about a major change of pace to seniors. It can also be isolating. Seniors might feel cut off from the rest of the society or unable to see their friends and family the way they used to when they are still working.
The exhaustion from years of working can also catch up on seniors, which can bring about feelings of depression and ennui. That is also not to mention the effects of the natural aging process.
But if you plan your retirement well, you can do activities that bring more meaning to your life. Here are some of the things that you can do to keep boredom and depression at bay during retirement:

1. Consider getting a dog.

Many seniors get a dog for companionship, especially those who live alone. Dogs make great companions and can be excellent guards as well. Seniors can spend a lot of time taking care of the needs of their pets, which will surely keep depression at bay. Dogs also have a way of bringing more happiness to our lives.
