The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) on September 14, 2020 has issued the Employees' State Insurance (Central) Amendment Rules, 2020 to further amend the Employees' State Insurance (Central) Rules, 1950.

The following amendments have been made:
• Rule 5(i)(i) A, which specifies the fees for travel allowance of the members, has been substituted, namely:
“A non-official member residing at the place where a meeting is held shall be allowed the actual expenditure incurred by him on conveyance subject to the maximum of rupees three hundred and thirty eight for each day for travel within the city.”
• Rule 5 (ii)(B), which specifies the fees for allowance of a non-official member, not residing at the place where meeting is held, has been substituted, namely:
“A non-official member, not residing at the place where a meeting is held shall be paid, Rs.2250 per day if member stays in a hotel and, not exceeding Rs.900 per day as expenses towards food.”
